Writing with the Elements Presented by Sal Marici

Conference Room

Marici Writing Program

Space for this program is limited: REGISTER TODAY

If we know where prose, poetry, creative non-fiction, or any other piece of writing is going before we start writing it, it is doomed. It will not be original. It will not show the author and readers anything new. We must begin writing before we know where the piece is going in order to discover.  Many times the discovery is about ourselves. With simple writing exercises, the participants in this workshop will show how the elements (Air, Earth, Fire, and Water) are within and around us.  Then under the guidance of spirit or muse, each participant will write a piece that shows a discovery. Finished products may or may not have a direct reference to the elements. This workshop is open for writers, non-writers, and anybody in-between.

We are pleased to have published author and poet Sal Marici sharing his talents and skills with us for this program. Salvatore Marici’s poetry has appeared or is forthcoming in Toasted Cheese, Descant, Spillway, Prairie Gold: An Anthology of the American Heartland, among many others places. In 2010, Marici was the Midwest Writing Center Poet-in-Resident. He has two books: Mortals, Nature and their Spirits and Swish Swirl & Sniff (both published by Ice Cube Press). Read praises for Swish Swirl & Sniff at http://www.icecubepress.com/2014-books/swish-swirl-sniff/praise. Ice Cube Press is scheduled to publish his third book in spring 2017. Marici served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Guatemala and is a civil servant retiree as an agronomist.

You MUST be pre-registered and space is limited, so please be sure to let us know if you find you are unable to attend.
