Come and join Amanda Freese for music making at the library using rhythms and melodies from around the world! This summer program will make the library rock as we groove to African, Caribbean, and Native American rhythms using tubano drums, hand drums, shekeres, maracas, and cowbells. Drumming has been proven to increase reading fluency as well as improve mental health and social-emotional skills. Students in grades 2-4 are encouraged to participate. Younger and older siblings are welcome, as well.
Amanda Freese has taught choral and general music in the Marion Independent School District for 18 years. Currently she teaches at Francis Marion Intermediate School where she leads an after-schooldrum club for fourth grade students.
