Marion Public Library to host Eat like an Astronaut Event

Marion, IA (July 22nd, 2019) – The Marion Public Library will host a special event just for teens this coming Friday, July 26th from 3-5 PM. A part of this Summer’s Galactic Friday series, this session centers around how astronauts eat, exercise and stay healthy while in space.

The first portion of this program will feature a presentation from Mark Brown, an Ambassador from the Solar System Ambassadors Program of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory. Further information about that program can be found here: http://www.jpl.nasa.gov/ambassador. Participants will get to sample space food as part of the learning experience.

The second part of this program will highlight a special guest, NASA Astronaut Rex J. Walheim, currently serving as the Deputy Director of Safety and Mission Assurance at the Johnson Space Center. Rex will join the presentation by Skype to answer audience questions and discuss his experience as a veteran of three space flights, including more than 36 hours in five spacewalks.

Registration is requested for the event at this link: https://marionpubliclibrary.org/teen-galactic-fridays-eat-astronaut-registration. Those interested can also register by phone or in person.
