Virtual Programs and Events

Our building may be closed, but we are still hosting programs and events for all ages:

Facebook - We are posting program videos and links to live programming throughout the week. Zoom and video link details will be in each Facebook event for convenient access. 

Instagram - We are posting short videos and thoughts all week long. 

Snapchat - Teens, follow us on Snapchat for posts each weekday.

YouTube - Watch our videos for book recommendations, activities, stories, and more.

Zoom - An online meeting software where we conduct some live programming. Current links, meeting IDs, and passwords will be posted below.

eBooks, Audiobooks, and Magazines

The library has free downloadable eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines available from a variety of sources. The following services can also be downloaded as an app on your smart phone or tablet.

CloudLibrary - CloudLibrary has downloadable eBooks and audiobooks available for free. 

Hoopla - Hoopla is a streaming service that offers eBooks, audiobooks, music, movies, and TV for free. 

OverDrive and Libby - Both OverDrive and Libby provide the same services for eBooks and audiobooks but with a different look. Take a look at both and see which interface you prefer. 

RBDigital - RBDigital provides access to your favorite magazines and audiobooks.


Digital Streaming Movies and TV Shows

Hoopla - Hoopla allows you to stream or download new and popular movies and TV shows for all ages.

Kanopy - Kanopy allows you to stream movies, documentaries, and foreign films.

Kanopy Kids - Kanopy Kids has movies and cartoons specifically for young library patrons and families.


Zoom Community Room Resource

Due to significant interior and exterior damages sustained during the derecho that hit Eastern Iowa on Monday, August 10th, the library is closed indefinitely. Staff are unable to provide Zoom Community Room bookings at this time.

TumbleBooks - Online animated and talking picture books for children.

Dial A Story - Call 319-727-8100 to access a selection of stories by phone, read by local community leaders. 


K-12 At Home Learning

Brainfuse - Academic tutoring, practice tests, lessons, and academic support for free.

Explora Primary - News and academic aritcles for kids.

Explora for Students - News and academic aritcles for grades 6-12.

Khan Academy - Free website that has lessons and materials based on subject and grade level. Not affiliated with the Marion Public Library.

Marion Homeschool Assistance Program - Resources to help parents and caregivers who have chosen to be their children's primary educators.

Marion Independent School District - Up-to-date information from the school district and resources for students and families.

Linn-Mar Community School District - Up-to-date information from the school district and resources for students and families.


Adult Learning - Learn business, software, technology, and creative skills for free.

Pronunciator - Free language learning online.


Find Your Next Book

BookPage - Learn about newly published and upcoming titles from your favorite authors and new voices.

NoveList - An online tool designed to help you find your perfect book based on appeal, readalikes, and genres.

Teen Reads - Our Teen Services staff create a new book list each month based on genre.
