The Marion Public Library Foundation supports access, literacy, innovation, and creativity for library patrons of all ages.
The Marion Public Library Foundation raises funds and invests assets to ensure current and future needs of the Marion Public Library are met above and beyond the library’s general operating budget. Support from the foundation helps promote cultural engagement, lifelong learning, and personal development through equal access to free resources. This is made possible through charitable donations, grants, corporate sponsorships, and other sources.
Tributes and memorials are wonderful ways to honor those who’ve made an impact.

To inspire community philanthropic support, foster relationships, and build partnerships that enhance and promote the Marion Public Library above and beyond the scope of public funding.
To provide long term support to ensure the Marion Public Library continues to be the center of cultural vitality and enhances the quality of life for all Marion residents.
The foundation began in 1995 as a committee of the Friends of the Marion Public Library. Its purpose was to raise funds for large projects and programs, including an endowment for summer reading programs, materials collection, and the building of the Nancy A. Miller Public Library.
In 2019, the foundation became its own 501c3 organization, separating from the Friends group. The foundation works to promote and perpetuate excellence for library services in Marion, Iowa. This is accomplished through the raising of private funds that the library may use to enhance the book collection, programs, technology offerings, capital projects, and special events such as speakers and author visits, discussion groups, and outreach services.
