Children Fiction
“Leo, a quiet kid who is not ready for his first day of kindergarten, ends up having a great day when he makes a kindness pledge and discovers he knows a lot about being kind to others.”
We want to help parents prepare their children for one of life’s big milestones: kindergarten. Research has proven over and over that children get ready to read years before they begin their formal education. The most effective way to get your child ready to learn is to read to them. We hope to foster a love of reading, an appreciation for the library, and healthy and happy bonding time for children and their caregivers as we encourage you along the way. Stop by the Children’s Desk and we’ll get you started!
How can you support your children as they grow? Introduce them to the library at an early age!
We can pull materials for you! If you would like us to help find themed materials or read-alikes, please fill out our Materials Request Form and we will get back to you! A 3-5 day notice is required for material requests.
The Marion Library has a wealth of children’s programming and early literacy activities. We encourage you to attend programs with your children and to participate in the activities: they will learn what you model for them!
We also offer library tours for classes, troops, or whoever would like to schedule one. On occasion, our children’s staff can do special visits. Contact the library for details.
