Each year, the Marion Public Library gathers favorite reads from staff to share with our community. This year’s lineup is full of variety, from new releases to memoirs and all kinds of books in between.
Here are a few of the books chosen by staff as their favorite pick of the year, and why they picked their selection.
“Dungeon Crawler Carl is fresh, salty, airy, crispy, with occasional flavorful hints of something more substantial — like a Funyun. For sci-fi fans of: “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” “Ready Player One,” and “The Dresden Files.” – Alex, Patron Services.
“The Wedding People” “This was a read that took me by surprise this year. It is witty, tender, and honest, with compelling friendships and romantic relationships.” – Grace, Adult Services.
“Of Women and Salt is a realistic depiction of immigration over the course of many generations. It’s a beautiful portrayal of womanhood and how the trauma and histories of mothers shape the lives of their daughters and the women around them.” – Marriah, Patron Services.
