Grand Opening

End your summer on a high note at Marion Public Library’s Grand Opening! Make plans to join us for a day of excitement and activities in celebrating our community’s new library.

Programs & Events

Our celebration will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8:45 a.m., followed by programs for all ages! From storytimes and cooking demonstrations to crafts for teens, we’ve got something for all ages.

Grand Opening- Additional Activities

Additional Activities

In addition to programs and events, MPL will have the following activities during Grand Opening:

  • Library-Wide Scavenger Hunt: Complete a scavenger hunt across the new library and enter for a chance to win prizes.
  • Library Tours: Want a full tour of the new library? We’ve got you covered! Tours will begin at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., and 12 p.m. The meeting spot for tours will be at the Reference Desk on the library’s second level.
  • Playaway Products Demonstration: Stop by the Playaway section (near the entrance to our Youth Collection), where staff will show you everything you need to know about our pre-loaded audiobook for patrons of all ages.
  • Musical Performances: Enjoy the tunes of the Cedar Rapids Community Orchestra from 10 – 11 a.m. in the Community Room, along with violinist and Junior Miss Linn County Mira Gibbons at 1:30 p.m. (location TBD!).
