MPL Launches Book-A-Bike Program

June 10, 2024 — Just in time for summer, the Marion Public Library (MPL) is inviting community members to ‘take a spin’ on a new collection item.

MPL’s Book-A-Bike program launches today, June 10. This program gives patrons the opportunity to check out one of two bicycles for use within Marion city limits. Borrowers must be 18 years of age or older to check out and ride bikes, and must also have a library card in good standing.

“We’re very excited to expand our Library of Things with the addition of these two bikes,” Patron Services Lead Darryn Gradhandt said.

The addition of bikes to MPL’s Library of Things, a growing collection, supports the library’s mission of encouraging lifelong learning and providing new experiences to the community.

“People may not think to visit their library to check out things like a gardening kit or bikes, among other things,” Gradhandt added. “Having this non-traditional collection is another way to connect with our community and provide them with an exciting resource they might not otherwise have access to.”
