The Marion Public Library welcomes all individuals to share their talents and skills through a variety of volunteer opportunities.

Volunteer Eligibility

In order to become a volunteer at the Marion Public Library, applicants must:

  • Be at least 14 years old to volunteer independently. Volunteers under the age of 14 can volunteer with an adult.
  • Successfully pass a background check, which includes a check of the National Sex Offender Registry.
  • Agree to a three-month minimum volunteering commitment.
  • Attend orientation and training sessions.
  • Be prompt and reliable.
  • Represent the library in an appropriate and responsible manner at all times.

Ever dreamed of leading your own book club? Book Group Coordinators lead book clubs at the library, including prep and setup, discussion leading, and assisting with cleanup. As a clerical assistant with the volunteer program, you’ll learn more about library operations and keep administrative efforts running smoothly. Do you have an artsy, creative side? Volunteers in our MakerSpace, Recording Studio, and Green Screen room will help patrons utilize the various machines, equipment, and software the library provides.
